Symptoms of Chlamydia that everyone must know

There is an evident rise in the number of people suffering or diagnosed with Sexually Transmitted Diseases or STDs in past few years. As the name suggests, sexually transmitted diseases are spread from one person to another through sexual contact, be it oral, anal, or intercourse. There are many types of STDs. And one of the STDs which is quite common is Chlamydia. It’s an STD which is a bacterial infection caused by Chlamydia Trachomatis.

In many cases, person suffering from Chlamydia doesn’t see any symptoms as such. At times, it also referred as silent epidemic. However, there are few symptoms that are signs that the person might be suffering from Chlamydia. The symptoms are different among men and women.

Symptoms in women:

The following symptoms are few clear signs of having Chlamydia:

Having abnormal vaginal discharge often accompanied by a strange odour, itching or burning sensation around as well as in vagina, bleeding in between two consecutive period cycles, having abnormally painful periods,  pain while urinating, pain while doing intercourse, and having abdominal pain which often happens with fever.

Symptoms in men:

The following are the symptoms among men:

Pain while urination, having pain and swelling around testicles, having clear or cloudy discharge from penis tip, itching or burning sensation around the opening of the penis.
